Our Programs

Groups, Education, Training and Presentations:

Our team, community partners and area resources are providing groups and programs within inner-city / West Dayton and surrounding communities that will support families, parents, youth and children who are faced with mental, emotional and/or behavioral health concerns. We have a strong focus on helping our youth and young adults recover, heal and/or cope with mental health concerns such as trauma, grief and loss, anger management, isolation and more through appropriate groups that are led by professionals and peers. We also provide parent supportive groups that introduce and teach tools and skills needed to nurture parent and child bonding, as well as educate parents/guardians on personal development, child & youth development, behaviors, learning, safety and community resources. We want to work with the family as a “whole” to decrease the incidence of school suspensions and/or expulsions, court

involvement and/or recidivism due to mental, emotional and/or behavioral concerns while supporting positive parent engagement.

Connections for Success Youth Leadership Program (PIRYR):

This is a partnership with the Montgomery Co. Juvenile Courts, Detention and Probation to provide positive relationships and opportunities, leadership, advocacy, workforce programs, internships and other supportive services to youth and young adults involved in the juvenile justice system or who are at risk of court involvement. Through community partnerships with business leaders, organizations, and providers we work to reduce recidivism, provide healthy accountability, and create a safe space for young men and young ladies to explore, learn, develop and take a positive active role in creating their futures. Our focus is within West Dayton, but no youth will be turned away from participating in this program. Our county’s continued growth, development and prosperity is dependent upon well-educated and

engaged youth and young adults who are contributing financially, socially, and civically. Th Connections for Success Program operates under the following 4 Pillars of Success: Education, Social Engagement, Mental Health & Wellness, and Workforce & Financial Development. Sunlight Village wants to help youth and young adults who are considered at-risk for failure be at-risk for SUCCESS.

The Village Way

The Village Way — a community-based youth and young adult mental health and wellness initiative designed to disrupt cycles of trauma, poverty, and court involvement by offering early intervention, restorative services, youth wraparound and family support. This initiative will launch in our new 21,000 sq. ft. facility in July 2025, where we will establish our permanent home and a youth and family friendly community hub right in the heart of West Dayton, an area labeled as low to very low in opportunities for children and youth. This initiative goes beyond police and court-referred diversion to serve any youth or young adult in need of advocacy, behavioral support ornreentry assistance. Services will include mental health support, trauma informed screening, youth, parent and family support groups, academic support, legal and housing referrals, skills-based development, and life-enriching groups in culture, gardening, culinary arts, financial literacy and health &nutrition.
